About

As a child, I was lucky enough to be taken on ski holidays in the Alps. As an adult, with the exception of 3 gap years to go to university, I've spent most of my life in the Alps, basically as an extension of those holidays.

Skiing is still a great passion of mine although, these days, I'm pretty happy pursuing any activity in the mountains. I love climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking, trail running and hiking. I divide my time between these activities enough that I'm not particularly good at any of them. Being the first / fastest / highest etc has never really been a motivation for me (maybe since it's never been a possibility?) but I love giving it my best. Spending quality time in the mountains is what it's all about and photography is just another great reason to get out there!

My enjoyment of photography came through my love of skiing. Seeing friends taking awesome action shots inspired me to pick up a camera. I still love taking pictures of people skiing, but I'm becoming increasingly drawn to landscape photography. I love the places it can take you and the effort it can take to get to the right place at the right time.

Living in Zermatt means I don't need to go far to find stunning scenery to shoot. I have to remind myself how lucky I am (although it's not luck that I live here) and to consciously take it all in every now and then. Photography feels like it's given me 'news eyes' and looking out for photos I'd like to take as I ski / bike / run around the mountains here is like being being a tourist in my home town again.

Much like giving my best efforts in sport, this website is my incentive to keep pushing my photography. I hope you like it!
